Catalog Update: June 2020

Our catalog is constantly changing and that’s a good thing! Please read below for more information on recent and upcoming course updates.

 

Advanced Career Training 

 

The following course will be retired and removed from the catalog effective immediately:

  • SSCP Systems Security Certified Practitioner (Voucher Included) (GES333)

Why is this course being retired?

In our commitment to protecting our student’s Personally Identifiable Information (PII), we will no longer offer a voucher for the SSCP exam. In turn, we will retire the “voucher included” version of the SSCP course and advise students to take the non-voucher version. 

Will this course be replaced?

We currently offer SSCP Systems Security Certified Practitioner (GES322), which uses the same course content but does not include a voucher. Students in the non-voucher version will be equally prepared for the exam, but must go through the exam registration process on their own.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes to their course access. Pending students will be directed to the non-voucher course.


 

The following course will be revised effective immediately:

  • Information Security Master Training (Vouchers Included) (GES359)

What changes are being made to this course?

We are no longer offering a voucher for the Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP) exam. The other two exam voucher in this bundle will remain unchanged.

Why is this course being revised?

Similar to the SSCP voucher, we will no longer offer a voucher for the CISSP exam and instead direct students to register for the exam on their own.

How will this impact students?

Active students who wish to take the CISSP exam will receive a partial refund (cost of the exam voucher), which was factored into their initial enrollment. Pending students will be enrolled in the revised course.


 

The following course will be removed from the catalog effective immediately:

  • Event Management and Design (GES402)

Why is this course being retired?

The instructor for this course will retire from teaching, so we will remove the course from our catalog until we find an appropriate subject matter expert to instruct the course.

When will this course be added back to the catalog?

We are diligently searching for a replacement instructor, but cannot give an estimated time frame as to the course’s return at this time.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes to their course access. Pending students will be notified that the course is not accepting enrollments until a later date. 


 

The following course will be updated on September 4, 2020:

  • Full Stack Software Developer (GES375)

Why is this course being updated?

The speed at which web technology moves requires constant updates to educational training material. As such, we are updating this course to train students to best use the latest web development languages, tools and techniques.

How will this course change?

Since the course content is being updated, the outline will change and the total course hours will increase from 600 to 650.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes to their course access.

  • Professional Certificate in Tech Fundamentals (GES376)

Why is this course being retired?

This course will be retired because it no longer fits our catalog roadmap.

Will this course be replaced?

No, we do not plan to replace the course at this time.

We recently retired our Workplace Mediation (GEs426) course, so we are also retiring the bundles that include this course.

Will these course be replaced?

No, we do not plan to replace these courses at this time. However, both Human Resources Professional (GES419) and Senior Professional In Human Resources (GES434) are offered independently of these bundles. 

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes to their course access.


 

The following courses will be retired and removed from the catalog effective immediately:

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Server 2012 (GES834)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Server 2012 (Voucher Included) (GES853)

Why are these courses being retired?

Microsoft is retiring the MCSA certification on January 1, 2021. As a result, we are retiring courses that prepare for the certification exam.

Will these courses be replaced?

No, we do not plan to replace these courses at this time.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes to their course access.


 

The following courses will be retired and replaced on June 19, 2020:

  • EXIN Cloud Computing (GES369)
  • UNIX Administration Basics (GES370)
  • Salesforce: Power User (GES365) 

Why are these courses being revised?

As web technology evolves, so do the skill and competencies needed to work in the tech industry. We are revising these titles to better align with the latest industry standards.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes. Pending students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the new versions when they launch.


 

The following courses will be retired on July 20, 2020:

  • PMI Risk Management Professional (Voucher Included) (GES28)

Why is this course being retired?

We can no longer offer the voucher for the PMI Risk Management certification exam. However, we will continue to carry the non-voucher version of this course (GES278) to help students prepare for the exam.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes. Pending students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the non-voucher course.


 

The following courses will be retired on September 28, 2020:

  • Entrepreneurship: Start-Up and Small Business Owner Management (GES401)

Why is this course being retired?

This course will be replaced with a new title that better prepares students for the Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) Certification.

When will this course be replaced?

Yes, the replacement course (GES439) will launch on May 5, 2020.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish their course with no changes to their course access. Pending students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the new course after it launches.

The following course will be revised on August 12, 2020:

  • Veterinary Assistant Series (B8563)

How is this course being revised?

We are adding the recently released Veterinary Medical Terminology (vmt) course to the Veterinary Assistant Series bundle.

How will this change the course bundle?

With the added course, the total hours will increase from 72 to 96. Additionally, the SRP increase from $299 to $395.

How will this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish the course as it is structured prior to the August 12, 2020 change.

These courses were retired due to outdated content. CompTIA updated Linux + certification requirements and officially discontinued the previous certification exam (LX0-103/104) on October 1, 2019

Yes. We plan to release a new title that aligns with the latest version of CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-004) next month.

The following course was retired and will be removed from the catalog effective immediately:

Why was this course retired?

This course was retired due to outdated content. 

Will this course be replaced?

Yes. We launched a newer title, Front-End Web Developer, which better aligns with current web development standards. Students will learn how to create responsive web applications with today’s most widely-used programming languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

How does this impact students?

Active students will be able to finish the course with no change to the curriculum.

Why is this course being retired?

This course will be retired due to outdated content. Since this course was first added to the catalog, Adobe has released newer versions of the Lightroom software.

No. We do offer a newer title, Introduction to Lightroom Classic CC (lrc), which better aligns with the latest iteration of Adobe Lightroom.

Students will have the option to continue the course with supplementary material provided by our subject matter expert or to drop with full refund. Our Student Services department will contact students about the exam changes and notify them about their options.

  • NCSF Certified Strength Coach (GES160) to NCSF Certified Strength Coach (Voucher Included) (GES160)

We added the phrase “Voucher Included” to GES159 and GES160 to accurately reflect the value of these courses. Not only do both courses prepare for National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) certification exams, students will receive a prepaid exam voucher upon course completion.


The following course hours will be changed effective immediately:

  • Grant Writing + Non-Profit Management (GES428) – 600 hours to 510 hours

The individual courses that make up this bundle have overlapping content, so the hours were listed incorrectly. The adjusted hours will now accurately reflect the content of the streamlined bundle.


The following course will be retired and replaced with a new title on July 31, 2019:

  • Forensic Computer Examiner (GES305)

To better align with the changing IT industry, GES305 will be replaced with a forthcoming title created in partnership with EC-Council. As a global leader in information technology and cybersecurity training, EC-Council certification will benefit students looking to build a tech career.


The following courses will be retired and replaced with new titles on September 12, 2019:

  • Paralegal (GES209)
  • Paralegal (Voucher Included) (GES270)

In effort for continuous improvement, our Paralegal titles will be replaced with more robust offerings. The forthcoming courses will better prepare students for the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Certified Paralegal exam.
