ADVANCED CAREER TRAINING
Certified Paralegal (Voucher Included)
Demand for qualified paralegals is booming. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the field will add 41,800 jobs between 2016-2026. The best way to break into or advance in this growing profession is to earn a Certified Paralegal (CP) credential from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). With law firms looking for paralegals to fill new positions, certification from the oldest certifying body in the paralegal field proves that a candidate is capable and will be a valuable part of the team.
Our new Certified Paralegal (Voucher Included) course will prepare students for the NALA CP exam and a career in the paralegal field. Students will first learn about the U.S. legal system, how to conduct legal research and legal interviews, how to perform legal analyses, and more. And through our partnership with NALA, Certified Paralegal students have full access to their legal library and CP self-study review guides to further supplement their training. Students will also receive soft skills training to increase workplace effectiveness. The course concludes with a capstone project and a portfolio review. Students will create a complete litigation file that includes a legal analysis brief, an investigative report, client interview checklist, intake memo, complaint, legal research, and interoffice memorandum of law. Finally, they will create a resume and portfolio that showcases their specialized skill set.
Upon course completion and fulfillment of eligibility requirements, students will receive a prepaid voucher for the NALA CP exam. The ‘voucher included’ option is ideal for students who meet the education or work requirements and are ready to take the exam.

Certified Paralegal
The Certified Paralegal course features the same curriculum as our Certified Paralegal (Voucher Included) title, without the voucher. The ‘non-voucher’ option is ideal for students who are not yet eligible to take the NALA CP exam, but still want to train for paralegal career while they strive to meet work or education requirements.

How are the new paralegal titles different than the current titles?
Our new paralegal courses are more robust than the current catalog offerings, Paralegal (GES209) and Paralegal (Voucher Included) (GES270). The new titles feature much of the same core curriculum, but include a greater focus on workforce preparedness. In addition to training for the exam, students will prepare for all stages of the career journey – from job search to workplace effectiveness. New features include:
- Soft skills content and seven new soft skill videos
- 20 quizzes that reinforce individual competencies
- Capstone project that involves creating a complete litigation file
- Resume preparation for job seekers
Should I add these courses to the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL)?
Yes. Paralegal (GES209) and Paralegal (Voucher Included) (GES270) will be retired on September 12, 2019. Across our partner network, these courses are amongst the most popular offerings for workforce-funded students. Not replacing these courses on the ETPL with Certified Paralegal (Voucher Included) (GES2034) and Certified Paralegal (GES2033) would likely result in lost enrollments and revenue.
When should I add these titles to the ETPL?
If you plan to add these titles, you should apply for approval immediately. If you need more information on the ETPL submission process, please contact your account manager.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
If you’ve elected to auto-add new titles to your catalog, then no further action is required. Otherwise, you will need to add them manually in the online administration center. If you’re not sure if you have the auto-add feature set up, contact your Account Manager.
