Canadian learners deserve career training built with their market in mind. That’s why ed2go is expanding its catalogue with courses designed or localized specifically for Canadian learners, workplaces, and career pathways.
These courses are easy to identify in the catalogue. A CAD prefix in the course code identifies an Advanced Career Training (ACT) course built specifically for the Canadian market. Courses with a GES prefix have been evaluated to help ensure alignment with the Canadian market and applicable certification standards.
The goal goes beyond changing spelling or currency. Localization helps ensure learners encounter terminology, regulations, professional standards, employment information, and resources that are relevant to where they plan to work.
The following three courses demonstrate how we are bringing this approach to life, with more localized offerings to launch in the coming months.
Veterinary Assistant Training Program (CAD118)
The Veterinary Assistant Training Program maintains the core clinical foundation learners need while adapting the curriculum to Canadian veterinary workplaces.
The course replaces U.S.-specific regulatory and workplace content with Canadian provincial regulatory structures, occupational health and safety requirements, WHMIS guidance, and applicable federal and provincial frameworks. It also incorporates Canadian professional terminology, organizations, accessibility frameworks, measurements, geographic examples, and supporting resources throughout the learning experience.
Learners develop skills across animal care, anatomy and physiology, restraint, laboratory procedures, pharmacy procedures, veterinary dentistry, emergency care, and client communication. The curriculum also distinguishes Veterinary Assistant responsibilities from those of Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), helping learners better understand their role within a Canadian veterinary team.
For Partners, that means offering learners a course that better reflects the terminology, resources, regulations, and workplace expectations they may encounter in Canada.
.
Freight Broker / Agent Training (CAD703)
Freight Broker / Agent Training provides 104 hours of online, self-paced training covering freight brokerage operations, transportation law, contracts, insurance, rate quotes, carrier relationships, sales, marketing and negotiation.
The localized course incorporates Canadian terminology, labour-market information, legislation and employment resources where applicable. Learners also explore federal and provincial requirements involved in establishing a brokerage and considerations associated with domestic and cross-border transportation.
The course can support multiple career goals, from developing skills to work for an existing broker to learning the fundamentals of establishing a freight brokerage business.
Professional Life Coach Training (CAD2023)
Professional Life Coach Training is a 60-hour online course designed to build foundational coaching skills, ethical practices, communication techniques, and business knowledge. Learners discover how to establish coaching relationships, create a safe coaching environment, use assessments, and strengthen communication, and develop strategies for building a coaching practice.
For the Canadian market, the curriculum incorporates Canadian ethical considerations, referral boundaries, terminology and labour-market information while clearly distinguishing life coaching from regulated health professions. Because life coaching is not a regulated occupation in Canada, the course awards a certificate of completion rather than a regulated professional designation.
The training can support aspiring coaches and entrepreneurs as well as professionals interested in applying coaching techniques in leadership, education, human resources, wellness, client service, and other settings.
