Course Overview
Our comprehensive 280-hour training course is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and core competencies required to perform all duties of a Home Health Aide (HHA). By completing this online course, they will gain the confidence to become a home health aide and provide appropriate care to clients, whether in their homes or a nursing facility—enabling them to deliver quality care and ensure the safety of their client(s) at all times.
During their training, students will learn the steps to provide personal and comfort care, along with measuring and recording vital signs and weight. Students will also review the role of the HHA/NA in supporting wellness and disorders of newborn and pediatric care. The course will cover the roles and responsibilities of the HHA/NA in preventing the spread of infections and the effects of proper nutrition, a healthy meal management system, and an effective feeding environment for clients in the home health setting and skilled facility.
Upon course completion, students will have a clear understanding of the task and duties of an HHA, how this role differs and relates to that of an NA, and have the guidance of the clinical experience team to support obtaining the required clinical hours to become an HHA.
Prerequisites
The Home Health Aide course is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position as an HHA. They do not need any prior experience or training in this field but should be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
State Requirements
With the addition of the new states mentioned, the HHA course meets all state requirements and is now offered in the following states: AL, AZ, AR, CT, DE, GA, FL, ID, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NM, OH, TX, SC, SD, VA, and WV.
Federal standards for Home Health Aides require a minimum of 16 hours of clinical experience. This course includes a clinical experience guide and access to a support team that will assist students in obtaining a clinical experience opportunity. Some states require students to be CNAs prior to becoming an HHA, and although many states do not exceed federal standards, students must ensure that this course meets the requirements to work as a home health aide in their state.
Students can visit their state’s health government site or call their state board and ask for their state’s current home health aide regulations and clinical requirements.
