We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of data privacy and protection for students and ed2go Partners long-term. In line with this commitment, we have updated our Data Obfuscation Policy to ensure that sensitive user information is managed safely and respectfully. Below, we have outlined the key components of the updated policy that we want you to be aware of.
Overview of the Data Obfuscation Policy
- For Users Over 18:
a. If a user has a date of birth (DOB) on file and is confirmed to be older than 18 years, their data will be obfuscated if they have not accessed their account in the past 5 years and have no active Student Finance Plans. - For Users Aged 16-18 or Users Without a DOB:
a. Users between the ages of 16 and 18, or those without a DOB on file, will have their data obfuscated if they have not accessed their account in the past year and have no active Student Finance Plans. - For Users Under 16:
a. For users under the age of 16, data will be obfuscated if they are not currently enrolled in a course and do not have any active Student Finance Plans.
This anonymized data will no longer be displayed or searchable within our user interface tools and reports found in our Admin Tools, Online Administration/Instruction Centers, and other internal ed2go tools, and cannot be restored.
Why This Matters
Our updated Data Obfuscation Policy is designed to safeguard user data based on specific criteria related to their age and activity. It helps minimize potential risks associated with data exposure, particularly for those who may no longer be engaged with our services.
Note: Once data is obfuscated, we can verify the following details:
- Course name
- Partner name
- Completion date
- Overall grade
- Course hours
- Certificate included (if applicable)
We are not able to access student accounts in the classroom and cannot provide progress reports for unfinished courses. For students needing a Certificate of Completion, we recommend that the student reach out directly to their corresponding ed2go Partner institution.
